Château Latour à Pomerol is a prestigious Bordeaux wine estate of 7.9 hectares. Château Latour à Pomerol has vineyards located not far from Château Clinet and Feytit Clinet.
What are the specificities of Château Latour à Pomerol?
The estate, which takes its name from the tower attached to the Château, has a long history in the region dating back to the mid to late 1800s when wine was sold under the name La-Tour-Pomerol.
In its early days, it was owned by the Garitey family before being passed on to Madame Loubat who also owned Petrus. After her death in 1961, it was passed on to her niece, Lily Lacoste. While Latour à Pomerol continues to be managed by the Etablissements Moueix today, they are not the owners. The Lacoste family kept the estate until 2002, when it was donated to the Fondation de Foyers de Charité de Chateauneuf de Galaure, a charitable association.
Latour à Pomerol produced some of the most legendary wines of the 20th century. 1947, 1950, 1959 and 1961 are all Bordeaux legends. Relatively surprising considering that 1959 and the historic 1961 were produced from very young vines because the vineyard had to be replanted after the frost of 1956! 2009, 2010 and 2015 are the best wines of the estate since 1982.
The vines planted on a gravelly, clayey-sandy and sandy soil give birth to a wine composed of:
