THE 2017 VINTAGE

An early vintage. The harvest began on August 29th, the bunches were well supplied following an excellent flowering at the end of May. The rather favourable climatic conditions give the wines charm and generosity. 2017 is a classic vintage that can also be enjoyed in its youth. The wines are supple and round, not very tannic with a nice sweetness. They will be charming wines presenting some similarities with the 2007 and 2011 vintages, while offering a more fleshy mouth.

CHARACTERISTICS OF THE APPELLATION

In the Middle Ages this climate was called "Little Wonder" in order to celebrate the quality of its wines... The existence of the "Latricières-Chambertin" dates back to before 1508. It is the southernmost Grand Cru of Gevrey-Chambertin. This wine presents a remarkable balance between minerality (comparable to Clos de la Roche) and depth (close to Chambertin).

Exposure: East

Soils: Shallow, very calcareous soils. Thin layer of silica

Grape Variety : Pinot Noir

Area: 1 ha 20 a 67 ca - [2.98 Acres].

Year of planting: 1958, 1984, 1989

VINIFICATION & MATURING

The grapes are cut and sorted by hand. The proportions of the destemming and the whole harvest vary according to each vintage. A daily pigeage is carried out to extract from the skins of the grapes their colour, tannins and aromas. After 19 days of vatting, the alcoholic fermentation is completed. The free-run wine is run off by gravity while a slow and gentle pressing of the marc allows us to obtain a press wine of great purity. For 16 to 18 months, our wines are matured in French oak barrels (60% new and 40% one wine) in our cellars at a natural and constant humidity and temperature. These barrels are selected for the finesse of their grain and their moderate toasting.

TASTING

With an intense ruby colour, generous and complex on the nose, this wine reveals rich roasting and spicy aromas. The mouth opens up pleasantly with ripe and silky tannins and then lets its power and beautiful structure unfold.

Serve with: Roasted quail, caramelized pigeon, roast beef, turkey with chestnuts.

Ageing potential: 10 to 25 years
