Marsannay Es Chezots 2020 - Faiveley
THE VINTAGE
2020 is a sunny vintage but the wines show a lot of freshness and no trace of over-ripeness. The winter was mild with very little rainfall. In spring, there were significant frosts but the low humidity in the air preserved the vines. After a second cold period in mid-May, the summer was very dry except for a few isolated storms (Nuits-Saint-Georges - Vougeot). We started the harvest on August 19th, a historically early date, and finished on September 1st.
Growing on soils similar to those of our Marsannay village (composed of marl, clay, pebbles and gravel) and benefiting from a shady exposure beneath the forest, our ‘Es Chezots’ vines are distinguished by their tannic character and opulence, guaranteeing excellent ageing potential. We are considering reclassifying it as a Premier Cru, a well-deserved accolade.

TASTING NOTES Marsannay Es Chezots has a rich bouquet of red fruit with subtle hints of prune. On the palate, its intense tannic profile reveals great ageing potential.
