Burg 2015 - Marcel Deiss
-
Presentation : The terroir of the Burg, late and humid, marked by cold lacustrine clays, whose geological characteristics (colored marls of Keuper with rare calcareous intercalations) and climatic characteristics (southern exposure, protected situation set back from the valley) allow each year the birth of a great, powerful, complex and structured wine, with a very long ageing period, marked by the presence of noble rot, from the great traditional Alsatian grape varieties planted.
-
Tasting: dark wine, on slate, black Soulages, graphite grey reflections, wet soil. A rather cold wine, broad and long in the mouth, but above all very thick, ample, invasive. Extremely dense. Pulpy dimension of grape juice. However, the touch of mouth is acid, tartaric, ribbed, with a firm, almost rough side, which dries the mouth on iodine, graphite, carbon.
-
Great wine of matter, in the making. Gone for a half-century of cellaring. Great quinine bitterness at the end!
-
Garde : Best after 10 years, the potential of guard is very long, 30 years.
-
Type : Wine of matter, semi-dry, rich and powerful.
-
Terroir : Colored marls of the Keuper, facing south, protected situation, set back from the valley. Rather late cool climate.
-
Grape varieties : Complantation of all the Alsatian grape varieties (13 in total).
