- Art and label : "Draughtsman, engraver, painter and sculptor, Marc Chagall (1887-1985) was born in Russia to a very religious Jewish family. His career took him to Paris, back to Russia and then back to Paris until the war years, when he spent time in the United States, only to return to France later. His painting, a synthesis of Jewish tradition and Russian culture, offers an aerial universe, both symbolic and figurative. The great stages of human life are inscribed in it, perceived by a gaze which, from childhood, has kept the freshness, the sense of bright colors and the taste of familiar animals. Rather than wine, it is the living fruit of the vine, pecked by a thrush or offered by a mother to her child, that Chagall chooses to bring us here the label of Mouton Rothschild 1970."
