Tasted by William Kelley in 2022: "A beautiful cuvée, the 2020 Maranges 1er Cru Le Clos des Loyères blends raspberry and cherry notes with rose petal, spice and raw cocoa flavours. Quite powerful, supple and fragrant, with lively acids and a bright, mineral finish, this is a bottling that seems to gain finesse with each new vintage."
Nicolas Perrault has been experimenting with whole bunch winemaking since 2005 and, since the 2018 vintage, he has consistently used at least 30% whole bunches. He has also found that his wines respond well to long aging, in judiciously chosen barrels of Trémeaux, Chassin and Rousseau.
