Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 2018 - Domaine Laroche
92/100 Parker
Cellaring: 2025 - 2045
By William Kelley on August 5, 2021: "The 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos opens in the glass with reserved youthful notes of citrus oil, fresh bread, pear, peach and praline. Full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with good texture, cut and structure, it should age gracefully."
- Chablis' most prized Grand Cru, sublimated by the expertise of Domaine Laroche, expresses intense minerality and exceptional finesse. A great moment of tasting.
- Terroir : The vineyard takes its name from the fact that it was once enclosed, i.e. surrounded by walls. We know from historical sources that the monks of the Abbey of Saint Martin de Tours planted vines there in the 9th century. The Clos are located just opposite the village of Chablis, with a southern exposure. This generous sunny orientation allows an excellent maturity of the grapes. The soil is also well drained and the grapes are concentrated in acidity and aromas. Les Clos is the most intensely mineral Grand Cru of Domaine Laroche and the one with the longest aging potential. The influence of this unique terroir results in a very long expression with a vibrant intensity.
