92/100 Wine Spectator
Tasting notes: "A plush, opulent style, with aromas of peach, pineapple, apple pie, vanilla and butter. Quite balanced but also a little heady. Long and spicy. Drink now through to 2024.
Description :
Located just south of Volnay and Pommard in the Côte de Beaune, Meursault is the largest white wine commune in the southern Côte-d'Or. The perfect south-east exposure and the stony, pebbly soils contribute to the remarkable finesse of Meursault wines. "Genevrières" comes from "juniper", a shrub with prickly needles and purple berries that thrives on the limestone soils of Burgundy. Many juniper trees were replaced by vines, as can be seen from the names of a number of climats. The Meusault 1er Cru "Genevrières" is an excellent example of a great Burgundy Chardonnay.
- Fermentation: Traditional in oak barrels, 100% malolactic
- Ageing: 8 to 10 months in oak barrels, 50% new
- Barrels: Tonnellerie Louis Latour, French oak, medium toast
- Tasting notes: Pale yellow in colour, Meursault Genevrières has a floral nose with notes of fresh almond and vanilla. Full and straightforward on the palate, with notes of lemon, almond and brioche. Long, mineral finish.
- Food & wine pairing: Creamy chicken - skate with black butter - white truffle risotto - Epoisses cheese
