Tasted by William Kelley on January 14, 2021 : "The 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru En Orveaux is a great success, opening up in the glass with aromas of cherries, plums and orange peel, complemented by notes of spice, smoke and toasty new oak. Concentrated, with bright acids and powdery tannins, it is elegant and nuanced. Mongeard notes that the vines in this parcel are planted north to south, which is no drawback in warm, sunny years like this."
Thanks to its magnificent exposure, the Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru "En Orveaux" appellation offers a deep ruby colour and aromas of red fruit, blackcurrant and raspberry. Its rich and full-bodied fragrant bouquet gives it a style that is both silky and rustic. It has the freshness and roundness to rival other Vosne-Romanée Premier Crus as well as a sensual vinosity. This wine has a wonderful balance.
