Château Rayas - AOC Châteauneuf-du-pape

Château Rayas, owned by Emmanuel Rayaud, is a small vineyard of 13 hectares. The production is 12.000 bottles (red) and 3.000 bottles (white).

How to make one of the best wines of France by taking everything in reverse? It takes pebbles to make a châteauneuf-du-pape? The soil of Rayas is sandy to perfection, without a pebble on the horizon. It takes new oak barrels to make a great wine? The vats of Rayas are made of cement, and Jacques Raynaud's widow proclaims that "wood is for wines that are not enough on their own". It is necessary to destem? We don't destem at Rayas. Finally, while everyone is bent on multiplying the grape varieties, Rayas only knows Grenache in red.
