Jean & Jean-Louis TRAPET
The estate tells you about it:
This miracle of nature, foreseen by Arthur Trapet one fine morning in May 1919, when he decided to buy his first parcel of Chambertin, we want to be worthy of it.
Day after day, season after season, we work to bring this royal terroir to life.
This area has the longest reign in history. Its first mention dates back to 630, when Duke Amalgaire gave the monks of the abbey of Bèze his elite vineyard. A little later, in 1219, the abbey of Bèze situated north-east of Dijon gave its domain to the chapter of the cathedral of St Mammès in Langres. It was at this time that the mention of "boschus de campo Bertuyn" appeared, the Chambertin wood immediately adjacent to the Clos de Béze. This was a field owned by a certain Bertin. Over the following centuries, many owners would shape this wonderful land. "Men change but the land remains.
This sumptuous land, where the blue blood of Pinot Noir flows, has a complex geological composition. The lower part is marl and limestone with superb clays on the inner surface.
The upper part is much whiter and marly, which slows down the vegetative cycle and gives this jewel wine a royal and rare balance!
This Chambertin wine opens up an infinite, unlimited, elusive universe, one of the richest there is!
