Owned by Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard since September 2000, CHATEAU BARDE-HAUT is a 17-hectare estate located on the eastern edge of the commune of Saint-Emilion, at the end of the plateau. The vineyard forms an amphitheatre facing due south overlooking the Dordogne valley.

Typical of Saint-Emilion, most of the terroir consists of a thin layer of clay on an outcropping limestone bedrock.

Major investments have been made. The vinification cellar, renovated in 2002, allows gravity-fed work in order to respect the precious harvest of the Château.

CHATEAU BARDE-HAUT is equipped with small vats of wood, stainless steel and raw cement from 50 hl to 70 hl. A selective and qualitative policy is carried out in the vineyard.

This meeting between an exceptional terroir and wine-making techniques combining tradition and modernity have led to the description of CHATEAU BARDE-HAUT as one of the rising stars of Saint-Emilion.

Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard is also the owner of Clos l’Église in Pomerol, of Château Haut-Bergey and Château Branon in Léognan.
