The Le Mont Chainqueux cuvée, created by Elise Bougy, is a Blanc de Noirs Champagne made from a plot of land at the foot of the Montagne de Reims. This region benefits from the influence of the chalky plain, characterised by ancient dry valleys and small hills.
The ‘Le Monts-Chainqueux’ parcel, located in the Premier Cru village of Les Mesneux, is planted with Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier grapes. The terroir lies on chalk covered with silt, sand and clayey loam, with a south-east exposure that favours the ripening of the grapes.
Planted in 1965 by Elise Bougy's grandparents, the vineyard has been under Ecocert conversion since 2019 and cultivated according to biodynamic principles since 2021, with environmentally-friendly tillage.
Produced from the 2020 harvest, this cuvée is made naturally: spontaneous alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, followed by 7 months' ageing in 7 228-litre barrels and a 20-hl cask. No fining, filtration or addition of sugar is involved in the production process.
Only 1,500 bottles of this exceptional cuvée are produced in limited quantities.
