Chassagne Montrachet 1er cru Clos st Jean Blanc 2018 - Blain Gagnard
Presentation of the Cuvee: Chassagne-Montrachet The Clos Saint-Jean 1er Cru is located above the village of Chassagne and just below a large limestone quarry, making it a charming vineyard with a good view of the village below. This place was once an important source of red wine, but today pinot noir represents only a small part of the vineyard.
Tasting notes: The Clos Saint-Jean blanc has aromas and flavors of yellow apples, peaches and lemons. It is expected to be taut and very acidic given its position on the hillside, but it is often quite rich. Ageing in 30% new barrels brings notes of vanilla and toast.
Food pairing : This wine goes well with white fish and shellfish, and its naturally high acidity can counterbalance cream-based sauces. It is well suited to grilled fish, starchy foods, butter and roasted nuts.
