Châteauneuf du Pape
(91 - 93)/100 Parker
Cellaring: Drink now
Robert M. Parker in 2004: "The Versino family has been on fire for a decade. In 2003, they added another limited production (about 2,000 bottles), a luxury cuvée from 80-year-old vines grown at 20 hectoliters per hectare, the 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape Les Baud. A fully de-stemmed blend of 50% Grenache, 35% Mourvèdre and 15% Syrah, it has a dense, saturated color and a distinctive bouquet of mint, eucalyptus, ground pepper, melted licorice, sassafras and black cherries. The complex aromas are followed by an elegant, powerful and rich wine that builds gradually on the palate."
