Châteauneuf du Pape 2010 - Château de Vaudieu
92/100 Parker and 92/100 Wine Spectator
Maturity: 2012 - 2026
By Robert M. Parker in 2012: "Chateauneuf du Pape's 2010 Grenache explodes from the glass with intense scents of candied strawberries, sweet black cherries, raspberries, dusty, silty, sandstone notes and hints of garrigue and licorice. A large amount of fruit, full body and a viscous texture make Châteauneuf du Pape a sumptuous wine to drink over the next 12 to 14 years".
This classic wine represents our main vintage characteristic of the estate's style.
-
Grape variety : 87.5% Grenache noir 12.5% Syrah
-
Terroir : This cuvée is a blend of our best plots of grenache noir and syrah on sandy soil and red gré du comtat Venaissin.
-
Harvest: After waiting for optimal ripeness, the grapes were harvested by hand between August 30th and September 25th 2017.
-
Vinification: The grapes were de-stemmed and crushed and then conveyed to a stainless steel vat. The temperature is maintained at around 25°C during alcoholic fermentation. Maceration lasts about 30 days during which pumping over and racking over are carried out daily according to the tastings of our oenologist Philippe CAMBIE.
-
Ageing: The Syrahs are aged for 12 months in barrels of one wine and more, the Grenaches in demi-muids of one wine and more.
-
Tasting: A deep ruby colour. The nose reveals a subtle blend of strawberry jam and cocoa bean, then notes of white pepper take the upper hand. On the palate, the attack is fresh thanks to a beautiful concentration of mentholated tannins, which evolves towards notes of graphite. To be drunk young or for 20 years at 16°C.
