Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2019 Vieilles Vignes - Domaine Grand Veneur - Alain Jaume
Directly from the estate
97+/100 Parker
Cellaring : Drink from 2023 or cellar until 2035
Tasting note by Joe Czerwinski in 2022 : " Still the densest and richest of the vintages from this landmark estate, the 2019 Châteauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes shows layered cedar and mocha flavors against a backdrop of black cherries. In fact, this wine is a bit like a Black Forest cake - ripe, rich and dense, with hints of chocolate and vanilla - but it remains dry and savory at the end, with velvety tannins and enormous length. It's made from about 50% Grenache (aged in tanks), plus 40% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah (both aged in new barrels)."
