Made from vines planted in 1900, the Châteauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes 2017 leads with aromas of cola, raspberries and dried spices. It has nothing of the chocolatey excess of the ordinary cuvée, but this full-bodied wine reflects the warmth of the year in its slightly coarser than usual tannins.
This is a superb achievement for the estate!
