On the place called "La Fontaine", there is a spring that used to supply water to the house of a noble family from Cornas. The cuvée Les Vieilles Fontaines was created by Alain Voge in 1988, on this beautiful granite terroir, magnified by our oldest Syrah. Produced only for certain exceptional vintages, Les Vieilles Fontaines fully illustrates the strong personality of Cornas and the spirit of their work.
- Label : The whole estate is in organic and biodynamic culture.
- Syrah grape variety cultivated in goblet on stakes.
- Manual harvesting.
- Partial de-stemming of the grapes with 30% of whole grapes.
- Fermentation with indigenous yeasts and maceration of several weeks in stainless steel tanks, with daily punching down and pumping over.
- Aged in 228 liter barrels for 24 months with 15 to 20% new barrels.
- Reduced sulphiting - total SO2 approx. 25 mg/l (allowed in organic farming: 100 mg/l)
- Production: 2,400 bottles
- Ageing potential : 25 years

TERROIR
This wine, produced only in the best years, comes from an 80 year old vineyard, planted on a magnificent granite soil. The vines, deeply rooted, produce grapes of a rare expression.
