La Landonne 2016 - Guigal
Cote-rotie - Guigal
Rating : (95 - 98)/100
Drink Date : 2025 - 2040
Reviewed by Joe Czerwinski the 19th Dec 2019 : "The 2016 Cote Rotie La Landonne is showing a bit more grip than last time I tasted it, with hints of green coffee bean on the nose alongside ripe black cherries and a heap of dried spices. Medium to full-bodied, with ample concentration and plenty of tannin, it should prove to be the longest-lived of Guigal's 2016s."
La Landonne de Guigal is an exceptional wine from the Côte-Rôtie appellation in the northern Rhône Valley. Produced by the famous Guigal house, this wine is made from 100% Syrah from an emblematic parcel of schist- and clay-rich soil, offering great complexity. Renowned for its power and depth, La Landonne seduces with its intense aromas of black fruit, pepper, truffle and leather, as well as its opulent texture and structured tannins. This wine for laying down, capable of ageing for several decades, is often regarded as one of the world's benchmarks for great red wines, perfectly expressing the excellence and unique terroir of Côte-Rôtie.
