La Turque 2005 - Guigal
Cote Rotie - Guigal
100/100 Parker
Cellaring: Drink now or cellar until 2045.
Tasted by Jeb Dunnuck in 2016 : "The 2005 Cote Rotie la Turque is absolute depth, and a desert island wine if ever there was one. Crème de cassis, blackcurrant, chocolate, grilled meats and bacon fat literally fly out of the glass of this full-bodied, structured and perfectly balanced Cote Rotie that doesn't have a hair out of place. It is in the early stages of drinkability and will benefit from another 2-4 years in the cellar, and will keep for 2-3 decades after that."
Soil geology: Silica-limestone soil with micaschists whose alteration has resulted in clay soils, rich in iron oxides.
Grape varieties: 93% Syrah, 7% Viogner.
Average age of the vines: about 25 years.
Vinification: In temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. Automatic punching down system. Fermentations: Alcoholic/aceration for 4 weeks.
Maturation: Unique 40 months in new barrels.
Yields : 35 Hl / hectare.
