94/100 Parker
Tasted in 2018 by Joe Czerwinski: ‘The 2016 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Barberini includes an unusually high proportion of Syrah (45%), but also 45% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre. Peppery notes underline the cherries, raspberries and stone fruits in this full-bodied, rich wine that becomes tannic on the finish while remaining fresh and clean. Give it two years in the cellar and drink it over the next 10 years. ’

FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE CUVÉE :
- Grape varieties: 45% Grenache, 45% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre.
- Cuvée Barberini Rouge - This is a tribute to the Barberini family's ancestors, produced when the vintage allows from a special selection of the estate's wines, well known for their concentration and opulence. The modern style of winemaking, optimising extraction but without excess, produces a powerful wine with silky tannins. Depending on the vintage, some of the wine is matured for 16 months in barrels, and then, when blended, spends 6 months in vats to ensure perfect integration. An impressive wine, with great purity and density, it is best served between 4 and 15 years after the vintage.
- Yield: 30 hl/ha
- Farming: sustainable
- Vinification : The Grenache grapes for this wine come from our best plots of old vines on the famous "galet" terroirs.
