"The Côte-Rôtie Améthyste 2022 seduces with its intense bouquet of wild black berries, spices, dark cherries, and a subtle hint of blood. On the palate, it reveals a full-bodied and fleshy texture, carried by powdery tannins and a dense and vibrant fruit structure. The long, airy finish lingers on refined notes of licorice. Made from different terroirs on the estate, vinified with 80% whole clusters and then aged in old barrels, this perfectly mastered wine already shows promise, but will express its full potential after a few years of aging, between 2028 and 2044."– Yohan Castaing

• A forward-looking blend assembled from several barrels for my tasting, Cote Rotie Amethyste is a blend of five lieux-dits - is dark fruity and plummy, but also vaguely herbaceous and edgy. On the palate, it's tannic but ripe, with a rich, silky feel and a long finish reminiscent of blackberries and dusty tannins."
