Château Duhart-Milon : Order great wine in stock

 Pauillac wine

The château Duhart-Milon, is a wine estate located in Pauillac in Gironde. Located in AOC Pauillac, it is classified quatrième grand cru in the official 1855 Bordeaux wine classification.

What are the specificities of Château Duhart-Milon?

The history of the Domaine goes back at least to the end of the Empire under Napoleon. Château Milon, its original name, was known as the Second Wine of Château Lafite. The numerous successive inheritances lead to the sale of the estate. Indeed, the Château Duhart-Milon has seen 5 different owners in 25 years. The Rothschild family became owners in 1962.

At that time the property had 110 hectares with only 17 hectares of vines. Between 1970 and 2000, the size of the vineyard was doubled and the Rothschild family undertook renovation and modernisation work on the wine-making facilities as well as the construction of new cellars.

Based on these investments, in 2008 the Château gives birth to a wine of much greater quantity and stature than before.

  2 grape varieties:

This is a particularity of the estate as it is one of the rare vineyards classified in 1855 to have only 2 grape varieties planted.

The property's vines are located in the north-western part of the Pauillac appellation, benefiting from a terroir of fine gravel mixed with aeolian sands on a relatively chalky soil.

The Château Duhart-Milon harvests the grapes by hand followed by a traditional and precise vinification. The wine is matured for 14 months in 50% new oak barrels.

A traditional savoir-faire that gives birth to a long, dense, perfectly balanced and structured wine with assured tannins. The Château Duhart-Milon is a classic of the Pauillac appellation with good ageing potential.

The estate also produces a second wine, the "Moulin de Duhart", created in 1986. A third wine also exists: "le Baron de Milon".
