Crozes Hermitage 2020 Albéric - Gilles Robin
From the estate
- Garde : 2023-2030
- Tasting : Scents of cracked pepper and mint emerge on the nose (long-time fans of this fine estate will note that the names of the various vintages have been shortened). Supported by vibrant blackberry and blueberry fruit, this is a superb wine with a silky texture and ample length and freshness on the finish.
- Grape variety : Syrah
- The cuvée : Crozes-Hermitage Rouge Albéric is made from old vines of about 70 years old, from the main terroirs of the Domaine (Rochas, Monico, Les Chassis). This blend of beautiful Syrah brings femininity and spicy aromas. We also find a rustic side, on ripe fruits with well present tannins.
This blend of Syrah will give after a few years of aging a rich and balanced wine. The harvest of the Albéric cuvée is done manually. The extraction is done by pumping over and punching down to respect the grapes. The vinification lasts 30 days in stainless steel vats, then continues for 12 months in Burgundy barrels or demi-muids.
- To serve: temperature at 16 C°.
- To be served with : Red meats of all kinds.
The winemaker tells you about it: "This cuvée was made for the first time in 1996. It is a tribute to my grandfather, Albéric Bouvet, who passed on to me his passion for wine. He had selected several qualitative terroirs in the appellation. Today, my work lies in revealing the different typicity of Syrah. Each terroir plays a very important role in the expression of our grape variety. The art of the winegrower and winemaker is to sublimate each parcel's potential through a controlled blend. Depth, power and aromatic complexity. Our wines play on the whole spectrum of Syrah's potential thanks to terroirs of character and rigorous blending. Gilles Robin
