Grands Échezeaux Grand Cru 2019 - Mongeard Mugneret

95/100 Parker

Cellaring : 2030 - 2060

Tasted by William Kelley in 2021 : "The 2019 Grand Echézeaux Grand Cru shows beautifully, unfolding in the glass with deep aromas of cherry, plum, orange peel, incense and spice. Full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, it is elegantly muscular, with a layered core of fruit, powdery tannins and lively acids, concluding with a long, penetrating finish. This is a brilliant wine that represents relative value in the constellation of Vosne-Romanée/Flagey-Echézeaux grands crus."

  • Character of the wine : The Eye : Ruby pure, lively and deep, red as it is not allowed, its dress is limpid of which shades often vary. These generally draw on garnet, purple, violet, red, green and blue shades. purple, quite dark, a color that supports the eyes. The Nose: With age, the palette turns towards pepper and musk, fur, leather and spices, the prune. Sometimes, it reminds the perfume of undergrowth, moss, of mushrooms, wet soil, game. The fruit in alcohol, blackberry complete this aromatic range. But, especially among young wines, we find pine, rosehip, violet and fresh cherry. The Palate: Peaceful or dreamy, serene with age, subtle and refined, it expresses all the complexity of Burgundy, all the art of pinot noir on a predestined terroir. With a dazzling structure, it is solid, robust, rich and always has a lot of harmony. It is Great before being Echezeaux, with a touch of class, vinosity in addition, a dense texture.
