By Lisa Perrotti-Brown in 2021: "Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2018 La Gaffeliere is a bit closed at first, slowly unfolding to offer glimpses of notions of stewed red and black plums, blackberries, and morello cherries, plus notes of damp earth, tar, and a garnished bouquet. The medium- to full-bodied palate is tight, offering crisp red and black fruit with an approachable texture of fine-grained tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long with a lifted perfume. It is a refreshing, beautifully perfumed, and skillfully crafted expression of the vintage. Give it 4-5 years in bottle, then enjoy it for the next 20+ years."
