Order wine : Château Léoville Poyferré 1996
Saint-Julien - 2ème Grand Cru Classé
93/100 Parker
Cellaring: 2007 - 2028
Tasted by R. Parker in 1999: "This fabulous 1996 has been tasted three times in bottle, and is without question the finest wine produced by this estate since the superb 1990. Quite full-bodied, with a saturated black/purple colour, the nose offers up notes of cedar, jammy black fruits, smoke, truffles and subtle new oak. On the palate, there is impressive fruit extraction, a full-bodied, tannic structure and a classic display of power and finesse. The longer it stayed in the glass, the more impressive the wine became. Backward and massive in extraction and richness, this Léoville-Poyferre should prove sensational drinking over the next three decades. Expected maturity: 2007-2028".
