Chassagne Montrachet 1er cru Morgeot 2018 Clos de la Chapelle L. Jadot
Clos de La Chapelle MONOPOLE - Domaine Duc de Magenta
94/100 James Suckling
August 20, 2020: 'A dense white with lots of character, offering aromas of dried apple, salt and straw. Full-bodied with bright notes of baked apple, light vanilla and nougat. Really complex and really excellent for the appellation. Drinkable now, but better in two or three years.
Anticipated aging: 2025 - 2045
Grape variety : Chardonnay
GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION
Located in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet is one of the 5 villages making up the prestigious "Côte des Blancs". Facing East and South-East, the soil of the Premiers Crus of Chassagne is mainly composed of clay and limestone.
CHARACTERISTICS
Morgeot is one of the best Premier Crus of Chassagne. It is located in the south of the commune. The soil is deep, with marl and clay.
VINIFICATION AND MATURATION
The grapes are harvested by hand in small boxes in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The grapes are then gently pressed and fermented in the barrels of our cooperage, a third of which are new. The maturing lasts about 15 months on fine lees before the preparation for bottling.
