Domaine Lucien Barrot & Fils is an iconic family estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with roots in the appellation for several generations. This estate perpetuates a classic and authentic winemaking tradition, with a respectful approach to the terroir and grape varieties. The vines, some of which are over 60 years old, extend over approximately 16 hectares, mostly planted on the region's typical rolled pebbles. The grape varieties remain faithful to local tradition, with a dominant Grenache, complemented by Syrah, Mourvèdre, and other indigenous grape varieties.
Vinification at the estate has deliberately remained relatively interventionist, in a very traditional style. The grapes are generally partially destemmed, fermentation takes place in concrete vats, and aging then takes place in large oak barrels for approximately 18 to 24 months. The result is a wine typical of the appellation: powerful but not heavy, with great aging potential. Lucien Barrot thus produces Châteauneuf-du-Pape wines that are faithful to the spirit of the vintage, bearing a timeless style that enthusiasts seek.
