Château Lynch Bages 2001
Pauillac - 5th Grand Cru Rated
Château Lynch-Bages 2001, a fifth-growth classified wine from Pauillac, perfectly exemplifies the elegance and consistency of the estate run by the Jean-Michel Cazes family. Made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and a touch of Petit Verdot, this vintage benefits from the deep gravelly soils typical of Pauillac. The nose currently reveals complex aromas of ripe blackcurrant, cedar, blond tobacco, and spices, accompanied by hints of leather and cigar box that emerge with age.
On the palate, the wine is distinguished by its harmonious structure and remarkably fine tannins, offering a striking balance between power and freshness. After more than twenty years of aging, this vintage reveals a silky texture and beautiful aromatic depth, with a persistent finish marked by notes of black fruit, graphite, and forest floor. Accessible today while still retaining a beautiful structure, Château Lynch-Bages 2001 constitutes a very fine classic expression of the great wines of Pauillac.
