Hommage à Jacques Perrin 2001 - Château de Beaucastel
96/100 Parker and 96 James Suckling
Estimated drinking window: 2018 to 2038.
On tasting, the wine appears slightly less vibrant than another recent bottle from the same winery, but it is already very expressive and open. The nose is particularly elegant, with aromas of cedar, charcuterie, truffle, and dark fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant) that express themselves with intensity and harmony.
On the palate, it is rich, full-bodied, and perfectly balanced, with smooth tannins, lovely freshness, and a silky texture. The whole is already very harmonious, oscillating between advanced youth and the beginning of maturity. It is advisable to wait another 3 to 5 years to reach its full potential, with the possibility of aging for several decades. The wine is made from a classic blend aged in large oak casks: 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache, 10% Counoise and 10% Syrah.
- Exceptional vintage of the estate
- Main grape variety : Old vines of Mourvèdre, the ancestral grape variety of Châteauneuf du Pape rehabilitated by Jacques Perrin.
- Tasting: this is a wine of incredible concentration. Great aromatic complexity - black fruits, spices, leather... - its tannins are fine, noble and elegant. Very pure.
- Aging potential: A remarkable ageing potential due to a particular vision of Châteauneuf du Pape, with the greatest respect for the terroir from which it comes.
- A remarkable terroir, very old vines worked in the most natural way possible, according to the principles of biodynamics dear to Jacques Perrin.
