Tasting notes: "The 2001 Léoville Poyferré is shaping up to be a revelation of the vintage, with aromas of blackcurrant, ripe blackberry, clay soil, cigar wrapper and violets bursting from the glass. Quite full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with a deep fruit core, lively acids and powdery structuring tannins, this is an intensely savory and rather dramatic interpretation of the year that has reached its plateau of ripeness."
