Order wine : Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Caillerets 2003 - Marc Colin et ses Fils
Marc Colin et ses Fils
89/100 Wine Spectator
Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru “Les Caillerets” - Marc Colin et ses Fils is a great white Burgundy from an exceptional terroir on the heights of Chassagne. The very chalky soils of this climate give the Chardonnay a remarkable mineral tension and great finesse. Domaine Marc Colin, renowned for the precision of its winemaking, produces this wine with careful aging in oak barrels (including a moderate proportion of new wood), thus preserving the pure expression of the terroir. The nose reveals aromas of citrus fruit, white flowers, pear, gunflint and sometimes fresh hazelnut.
On the palate, this 1er Cru seduces with its balance between full body and vibrant acidity that lingers on the finish. The texture is silky, underpinned by the limestone and saltiness characteristic of the Caillerets terroir. This wine evolves admirably over time, developing more complex notes of honey, toasted almond and fresh butter after a few years' cellaring. It's a gastronomic wine, ideal for noble fish, refined seafood or creamy poultry. A great white Burgundy, combining precision, energy and elegance.
