L'Oenothèque 2003 - Champagne Drappier
95/100 Parker
The 2003 vintage, marked by a particularly hot and dry summer, resulted in an early harvest of concentrated and expressive grapes. Despite the year's natural richness, this cuvée retains a beautiful freshness and displays a luminous yellow hue. The nose evokes summery notes of wildflowers, quince, and hay, while the palate reveals aromas of fresh stone fruit accompanied by a subtle touch of licorice.
Made from 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, this champagne is produced exclusively from the first pressings ("cuvées"), vinified by gravity with natural settling and without filtration. Malolactic fermentation is carried out immediately, followed by a long aging period of 9 years on the lees. Dosed at 4 g/L with a liqueur aged in oak barrels and disgorged in June 2023, it embodies the precise and expressive style of the Drappier house, whose vineyards extend over 70 hectares in Côte des Bar.
