When to drink this wine : 2021 - 2040
Tasted by William Kelley in 2022: "The 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet Cuvée Margot bursts with aromas of pear, tangerine, honey and freshly baked bread. Quite powerful, full and satiny, it is bright and precise, with a lively backbone of acidity and a long, saline finish. This wine comes from four parcels on the village's alluvial fan, which are ripening preciously and are among the first to be harvested.
The vineyard:
- Chardonnay grape variety
- Clay and limestone soil at the bottom of the hillside
- Blend of 4 different plots
- Planted in 1970, 1985 and 2005
"Margot" was the nickname of Caroline and Damien's paternal grandmother, who was called Marguerite.
Cultivation:
- Integrated cultivation
- Single Guyot pruning
- Manual harvesting
Vinification and ageing:
- Pneumatic pressing
- Vinification and ageing in oak barrels for 12 months and 6 months in vats.
- Fining and filtration before bottling
