Meursault 1er cru Gouttes d'Or 2017 - Maison Louis Latour
Description: Located just south of Volnay and Pommard in the Côte de Beaune, Meursault is the largest white wine commune in the southern Côte d'Or. The Meursault "Goutte d'Or" is the first 1er Cru that you find when you leave the village in the direction of Puligny-Montrachet. This parcel would have been given this name because of the numerous flints composing it, flints with the shape and colour of "gouttes d'or" (drops of gold). This wine corresponds exactly to what one can expect from a Meursault wine. Powerful on the nose, rich on the palate, the Meursault "Goutte d'Or" was Thomas Jefferson's favourite wine.
Vinification & Maturing : Traditional fermentation in oak barrels, 100% malolactic.
Ageing: 8 to 10 months in oak barrels, 50% new
Barrels: Tonnellerie Louis Latour, French oak, medium toast
Tasting note : Our Meursault 1er Cru "Goutte d'Or" has a pale gold colour with an intense nose of coconut, brioche and vanilla. It is full and round on the palate with fresh notes of citrus fruit and chlorophyll.
Food/wine pairings: Vol-au-vent - veal fillet - pike - morels - cheese.
