Château Mouton Rothschild 1963
Pauillac - Premier Grand Cru Rated
- Tasting notes: A light fruit nose. The palate is leafy and light, with notes of cold tea and a certain greenness. It seems to have gained some harmony in the glass.
- Storage: A very well stored wine that should be enjoyed now.
- Art and label: Bernard Dufour (1922-2016) designed the label for Mouton 1963. Then, around 1960, he turned to more figurative painting: self-portraits, male heads with a tragic fixity, female nudes. These add an erotic dimension to an art in which reality is expressed through the screen of dreams or memories: imprecision of lines, play of mirrors, realistic elements inserted into a dreamlike environment. The sensuality of his inspiration appears in his drawing for the label of Mouton Rothschild 1963, with the face to face of a bunch of grapes and an elongated body, punctuated by a line of Mallarmé taken from "L'après-midi d'un faune": "Ainsi, quand des raisins j'ai sué la clarté...".
- Conservation: Damaged and wrapped in film
