Château Phelan-Segur 1993
Saint Estephe
87/100 Parker
Maturity: Can be enjoyed today.
By Robert Parker in 1998: "In what must be one of the ironies of this vintage, Phelan-Segur's 1993 proved to be more successful, fatter and riper than the 1994 or 1995 - which is surprising given the potentially better raw materials for the two younger vintages. The 1993 exhibits a deep ruby/purple color, followed by excellent smoky, soft, toasty oak, a black fruit flavor on the nose, admirable fatness and ripeness, a good mid-palate of beautiful purity, and a beautiful cedar finish, medium-bodied and sweet, without astringency."
