Corton Grand Cru 2018 Le Corton - Bouchard Père et Fils
93/100 Parker
Maturity: 2025 - 2050
Comment by William Kelley on October 15, 2020: "The Corton Grand Cru 2018 performed very well in bottle, offering a deep and complex bouquet of blackcurrant, wild berries, grilled, black truffle, blood orange and soft forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, deep and muscular, it is layered and concentrated, with powdery tannins, lively acids and a long, sapid finish. Although it is a powerful and structured wine, it is also very refined, and it is a 2018 that will offer a wide drinking window".
The first traces of vineyards in the commune of Aloxe-Corton date back to the IInd century. century before Christ. Later, Corton was Charlemagne's favorite wine. At In the 19th century, the writer Guy de Maupassant will contribute to the development of its reputation by calling him "king of the bon vivants" in his famous novel "Bel friend". The only red Grand Cru of the Côte de Beaune, Corton is also the only Grand Cru de Côte d'Or to be divided into sub-climates. "Corton" refers to the historical parcel that gave its name to the Corton appellation.
