William Kelley's tasting on January 14, 2021 : " Aged in 300-liter barrels made of oak that Mongeard selects and seasons himself, the 2019 Echézeaux Grand Cru La Grande Complication is a special cuvée that comes from vines planted in 1945 with the family's own massal selections, located at Les Treux. Revealing itself in the glass with notes of orange peel, rose petals, exotic spices, cherries and berries, it is full-bodied, deep and layered, with a tight, concentrated core that shows considerable potential for long cellaring. Fermented 100% whole cluster, it is one of the most reserved wines in the lineup."

First, the red and black fruits of intense blackcurrant and bright raspberry reveal all the splendor of this selection of grains. Then the subtle mechanism of the aromas is revealed on soft notes of spices. Silence is then established. Harmony, power, finesse and purity mingle in a precious and complex movement. The measure of the place is perfectly calibrated, the greatness of Pinot Noir sublimated. The Grande Complication cuvée will require time to express itself, the most intense emotions will punctuate over time this quest for Exception.
