Meursault 1er cru Perrières 2020 - Maison Louis Latour
From the estate
Grape Variety : Chardonnay
Average age: 35 years old
Basement: Marl and limestone
Average yield: 40 hl/ha
Harvest : Manual
Ageing potential: 6-8 years
Operating temperature: 12-14° C
Description: Located just south of Volnay and Pommard in the Côte de Beaune, Meursault is the largest white wine commune in the southern Côte d'Or. The excellent quality of the 1erers Crus compensates for the fact that this appellation does not have any Grands Crus. The "Perrières" vineyard is planted on shallow, stony soils like many of the surrounding terroirs and produces some of the best wines of this village.
Fermentation: Traditional in oak barrels, 100% malolactic.
Ageing: 8 to 10 months in oak barrels, 50% new
Barrels: Tonnellerie Louis Latour, French oak, medium toast
Tasting Note: The nose is remarkably complex and aromatic and requires more time than other Meursault wines to open up. The palate is opulent and rich with peach aromas and hints of hazelnut, as well as good persistence.
Food and wine pairing : Creamed chicken - black butter skate - white truffle risotto - Epoisses
