Savigny 1er cru Dominode 2014 - Chanson
Chanson Père et fils
90/100 Wine Spectator
Cellaring : Now to 2027
Tasted in 2017: "Muscular and dense for a Savigny, exposing chocolate-tinged black cherry and blackberry fruit. Aromatic, with sweet oak and grip on the lingering finish." - BS
Grape variety : Pinot Noir
Soil : Clay and limestone
Location : In the commune of Savigny-les-Beaune, in a privileged mid-slope site at the entrance to the Savigny valley, in the lower part of the Jarons hillside, this vineyard takes its name from the Latin "Dominus", as it belonged to the "Lord" of Savigny.
Vintage 2014 : After a mild and rainy beginning of the year and a frost episode in mid-April, the vintage found its cruising rhythm with a warm and dry month of May, ideal conditions for the flower. The end of the spring took place in optimal conditions. The summer was marked by a violent episode of hail at the end of July and relatively cool temperatures in August accompanied by some rain. At the beginning of September, the Indian summer took over and allowed the grapes to reach an optimal level of maturity. The harvest took place at the end of September under a beautiful sun. The red wines show great aromatic purity with marked notes of red fruit and a generous structure. Aged in oak barrels for 15 months.
Tasting : Beautiful ruby color. Intense aromas of small ripe red berries on spicy notes mixed with a touch of vanilla. Well constructed and complex. Fine grained tannins. Well-integrated woody note. Long and intense finish. SCORES : 90- WINE SPECTATOR - February 2017
Food and wine pairing : Roasted meat or meat in sauce, game, cheese.
