100% Serine (ancient syrah). Destemmed harvest. Granitic arenas of the Malleval valley. Aged for twelve months: 20% in new pieces - 40% in pieces of one wine - 40% in pieces of two and three wines. I wouldn't be able to work with any other source of Saint Joseph as it constantly feeds my curiosity and gives me joy. In any case, it would be difficult to find a better origin. In the hillsides of Malleval, the plots of Saint Joseph rub shoulders with those of Condrieu. The classification of the two appellations has led to a controlled tangle. In order to determine which terroirs were the coldest, my geologist friend Georges Truc, who took part in the redelimitation of Saint Joseph, counted in a period of snowfall which terroirs took the longest to melt their snow. When he told me this, I suddenly remembered that intelligence and creativity were at the heart of our profession. Our Saint Joseph 2014 is a real "star" in this vintage: its nose of redcurrant, tart wild raspberry, "Zan" liquorice and oriental spices precedes a full and fruity palate whose relief is created by an omnipresent freshness from the beginning to the end of the tasting. When I taste it, I can't help but think of granite and slate floors. You can enjoy this bottle in all seasons and even in summer. Enjoy your tasting!
