Terroir & Vineyard
- Terroir : Triassic clay soil on a subsoil of blue marl.
- Exposure: Due south, offering optimum sunshine.
- Area dedicated to this cuvée: 0.95 ha.
- Age of vines: Planted in 1938, 1950, 1956, 1965, 1972 and 1973.
- Planting density: 7,000 vines/ha.
Viticulture & Vinification
Vineyard management: Biodynamic viticulture, certified by Ecocert and controlled by Demeter. No weedkillers, chemical fertilizers or synthetic products are used. Treatments are limited to sulfur, copper and herbal teas. Compost produced and added to the vineyard. The soil is tilled in its entirety.
Harvesting & winemaking: Hand-picked in crates. Pneumatic pressing and spontaneous fermentation.Aged in 228-liter barrels (20% new) for 24 months on lees.
Bottled after light filtration, with a very low dose of sulfur (total SO₂ less than 40 mg/l).
Tasting
Wine of great purity, with marked mineral expression. Aromas of fruit and spices. Lively, dense, highly concentrated palate, with discreet oak still present.
Food & wine
Perfect with refined starters, fish, shellfish, scallops or white meats.
Ageing potential
Already very expressive in its youth, it can be decanted for early drinking. Aging potential up to 20 years.
