Order great wine : Château Valandraud 2004
1er grand cru classé de St Emilion
91/100 Parker
Tasted by Neal Martin in 2017: “Tasted blind at the estate's Valandraud vertical, the Valandraud 2004 was harvested between October 13 and 18 and is composed of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. Its bouquet is rounder and fruitier than that of Cheval Blanc 2004, with aromas of red plum, Hoi Sin, marmalade and even dried honey. The palate is quite full-bodied, with supple, rounded, caressing tannins. The body and concentration are impressive for a 2004, the palate is quite grippy and unfolds with conviction on the finish with notes of raspberry coulis, wild strawberry, white pepper and cedar. This wine is on a par with its 2003 counterpart and should drink well for another 8-10 years. ”
When to drink it : Now to 2029.
