Vosne Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts 2014 - Magnum - Daniel Rion
94/100 Wine Spectator: "Dark and spicy, this red presents incubating flavours of black cherry, blackberry, spice and graphite. It is fresh with dusty tannins. It has excellent balance and a long finish. Best consumed between 2019 and 2036. "BS
The estate tells you about it: The beautiful location of this one hectare vineyard, on a steep slope at the entrance to the Combe de Concoeur, is enhanced by its high altitude (280 to 300m), its south-east exposure and a strong stoniness. The shallow limestone soil, on a hard limestone subsoil, produces a concentrated, very well-structured wine. The vines are around thirty years old and have reached the age of maturity and balance.
This Premier Cru of Vosne Romanée is perfectly in the style of the village: silky tannins that support floral notes of hawthorn, wild rose, violet, as well as cherry and blackcurrant. Ageing is particularly beneficial, during which the truffle and a beautiful concentration of candied fruits will reveal themselves.
Thanks to its beautiful body, it will enhance a venison stew with Burgundy wine and other marinated game. Some spicy white meats can also be served with it.
