A precise, refined, and lively Crozes-Hermitage. The nose reveals aromas of black cherries, undergrowth, wet stone, roasted meat, and smoke. On the palate, the structure is fine, supported by silky tannins and vibrant acidity. The whole is agile, energetic, and beautifully velvety in texture. A seductive wine with a salty, crisp character and great transparency. Lots of momentum and a lingering finish. Made from organically grown grapes. Enjoy now or keep for a few years.

On the terraces of Chassis, the ancient bed of the Rhône has deposited pebbles that mark the identity of this emblematic terroir of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation. Here, my Syrah vines are comfortably installed, often for more than 50 years. To produce the Rouvre, I select the parcels whose grapes give deep and velvety tannins for an identity bottle that can be kept for a long time.

VINIFICATION

For the vinification, the wines are 100% destemmed, there is no yeasting. The maceration phase lasts 4 weeks. Pigeage is rarely used, pumping over is preferred, it is a gentler way of extracting. The vinification temperatures never exceed 28°C. After devatting, the wines are warmed up in a half-muid, where they undergo their malolactic fermentation. The woods are mainly of one and two wines. The wines are racked after 12 months and then stay 3 months in tank before bottling.

TASTING

Color : the wine presents colorful tears with a nice presence in the glass. The robe is clear and bright.

Nose: the first sensation on the nose is marked by stewed black fruits, such as blackberry and black currant. As well as aromas of spices, such as black pepper and nutmeg. It is an elegant nose.

Palate: the mouth is deep and concentrated. The wine takes its place with elegance on present tannins, young and fine. The finish is refreshing and persistent.

AGEING

This wine can be drunk now, but should be opened 2 hours before or decanted before serving. It will keep for at least another ten years.
