Sourced primarily from exceptional vineyard plots in Gueberschwihr, south of Colmar, the 2024 Riesling Roche Calcaire reflects the full complexity of its terroir. Due to highly variable ripening patterns on these limestone soils, the 2024 harvest required rigorous daily monitoring and multiple selective passes.
Exceptionally, this cuvée also incorporates superb selections from our Clos Häuserer, Hengst, and Heimbourg terroirs. Fermentation proceeded at a steady pace and concluded quickly, resulting in a resilient, finely chiselled, and very dry wine. More details:
Average vine age: 45 years

Description: This wine is primarily a blend from various small vineyard plots scattered around the village of Gueberschwihr, supplemented by the very small yield from our two young vine plots located in the Grand Cru Hengst. Wines produced on limestone-based geology—regardless of topography or location—tend to share specific characteristics. They are generally less expressive in their youth and take time—sometimes years—to reveal their full aromatic potential. When young, these limestone-grown wines often display a distinct sense of austerity, particularly on the palate, underpinned by energetic acidity. By definition, limestone soils lead to late grape ripening because they take longer to warm up—especially in Gueberschwihr, where the clay content is higher. These soils are drought-resistant and tend to impart a certain vigor to the vines.

Index: Level of sweetness on the palate. Scale from 1 to 5.
1: technically dry or tasting dry. 2: not technically dry, but the sugars are not obviously apparent on the palate. Some tasters may find a slight roundness on the finish. These wines will taste dry with some bottle ageing. 3 : medium sweetness, more important in the youth of the wine, which will gradually fade with age. 4 : Sweet wine. 5 : Sweet wine, very close to a Vendange Tardive
Caution : The bottles of Alsace wine do not fit in the wooden boxes sold separately.
