Saint-Emilion - Premier Grand Cru Classé A
A very pretty Bordeaux with a tobacco, chocolate and berry character and a silky finish. Can be drunk now.
Tasting notes :
Château Angélus is an elegant and refined red wine. It is generally characterised by aromas of ripe red fruit, such as cherry, raspberry and strawberry, as well as delicate floral notes. As it ages, it develops more complex aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry, leather, tobacco and truffle.
Its structure is often described as powerful, with silky tannins and balanced acidity.
Grape variety :
Château Angélus is mainly made from two classic Bordeaux grape varieties:
- Merlot: This makes up the majority of the blend, providing richness, roundness and aromas of red fruit.
- Cabernet Franc: This variety contributes to the structure and complexity of the wine, bringing floral and spicy notes.
- The remaining small percentage may include Cabernet Sauvignon.
Wine and food pairing :
Château Angélus is a versatile wine that can be enjoyed with a wide range of dishes:
- With red meat dishes, such as grilled steak, roast beef or roast lamb, Château Angélus is a perfect match thanks to its robust structure.
- Game dishes, such as venison or duck, are also excellent choices to accompany this wine.
- It also goes well with hard cheeses such as aged cheddar, Comté or Parmesan.
- Dishes with truffles or wild mushrooms go well with the complex aromas of Château Angélus.
Serving temperature :
The ideal serving temperature for Château Angélus is around 16 to 18 degrees. This allows the wine to express itself fully and reveal its aromas and structure to the full. We recommend decanting the wine for about 2 hours before serving to allow its aromas to open up further.
